Longitudinal Dynamics of Hydrological Connectivity in the Yellow River Delta, China

چکیده

River deltas are formed by the interaction of connecting water and sediment, they among most economically ecologically valuable ecosystems on Earth. Because their special locations, together with direct indirect human interference, river expected to be more vulnerable fragmented. The increasing fragmentation is largely due longitudinal hydrological connectivity disruption caused activities. However, dynamics unknown, especially in Yellow Delta (YRD), which has been subjected heavy reclamation recent years. In this study, we divided whole YRD into three subregions, erosion zone, oilfield zone deposition then used indicators explore spatiotemporal variation scale zonal delta during 1984-2018 YRD. We found that was closely related geometry tidal channel networks, changes varied research scales. A weak trend past decades. decreasing both zone. however, degree enhanced. Furthermore, also identified key impaired area relatively stable implied may a priority restoration Our study provides useful scientific guidance for subsequent damaged wetlands.

Dynamics of soil organic and inorganic carbon in the cropland of upper Yellow River Delta, China

Soil inorganic carbon (SIC) and organic carbon (SOC) are important carbon reservoirs in terrestrial ecosystems. However, little attention was paid to SIC dynamics in cropland. We conducted a survey in the upper Yellow River Delta of North China Plain. We collected 155 soil samples from 31 profiles, and measured SOC, SIC and soluble Ca2+ and Mg2+ contents. Our results showed that mean SOC conten...

Impacts of urbanization on net primary productivity in the Pearl River Delta, China

Great changes in land use/land cover from rapid urbanization have occurred in the PearlRiver Delta, China. As the primary cause of land development in the urbanization process, urban expansion has mostly occurred on land with higher NPP, significantly impacting theregional ecosystems. The primary purpose of this study was to reveal the impacts of urbanexpansion on the regional NPP. The land cove...

Distribution of phthalate esters in topsoil: a case study in the Yellow River Delta, China

The Yellow River Delta (YRD) is a typical agricultural and petrochemical industrial area of China. To assess the current status of phthalate esters (PAEs) of soil residues, soil samples (0∼20 cm) (n = 82) were collected in Bincheng District, at the geographic center of the YRD. PAEs were detected in all topsoil samples analyzed, which indicated that PAEs are ubiquitous environmental contaminant...

Vegetative Ecological Characteristics of Restored Reed (Phragmites australis) Wetlands in the Yellow River Delta, China

In this study, we compared ecological characteristics of wetland vegetation in a series of restoration projects that were carried out in the wetlands of Yellow River Delta. The investigated characteristics include plant composition structure, species diversity and community similarity in three kinds of Phragmites australis wetlands, i.e. restored P. australis wetlands (R1, R2, R3 and R4: restor...
